The Netflix platform has started showing The Sandman series, which is based on the famous comics group that managed to grab the title of bestseller according to the New York Times, and its cost reached 165 million dollars.

The Sandman series is one of the most famous comic stories, within the “DC” series, and was first published in 1989, and author Neil Gaiman tried to convince the production company Warner Brothers for the series, but he did not find enthusiasm for it, claiming that the character of the villain in it is not clear, as embodied in the series. Sandman is a fictional evil character within the “DC” characters, more concerned with the world of dreams and nightmares, and the series revolves around Morpheus, the master of dreams, who makes a deal with the English author William Shakespeare, and goes on a journey of discovery about himself in an attempt to undo his family’s mistakes.

Written by Neil Gaiman, David S. Goyer and Alan Heinberg, the series stars Tom Sturridge, Boyd Holbrook, Gina Coleman, Gwendolyn Christie and Mason Alexander Park.

The series succeeded in presenting the story of the Lord of Dreams as presented in the comics, written by Neil Gaiman, with the art of Sam Keith, Mike Dringenberg, while large and small changes were made to the characters to simplify, update and focus the narrative, and were formulated to suit the requirements of serial television work.

The “Sandman” series centers on the character of Dream, one of the 7 Eternals in ancient mythology, who is also known as Morpheus, among other names, earned over billions of years.

The series begins with Morpheus summoned by mysterious rituals, but he is captured and held for 70 years, until he finally manages to escape and take revenge on his captors.

The first season of The Sandman adapts the first two arcs of the comic, Preludes and Nocturnes and A Doll’s House, so there are still 8 more volumes to develop in later seasons, as well as the spin off of Death or the prequel Sandman Overture.

On the other hand, The Sandman has already surpassed Stranger Things, as one of Netflix’s strongest productions, is in sixth place, although it is not a bad position considering that the fourth season ended several weeks ago. At the moment, a second season of Sandman has not been confirmed, but Neil Gaiman in our exclusive interview, commented that the first 10 episodes must be a success to guarantee a second or more seasons.

Now Morpheus is residing in his “dream” kingdom, where he enjoys absolute power and control, but he struggles to rebuild his kingdom and atone for past mistakes, while adapting to constant changes.
